Are you passionate about working with young people and using the outdoors as a tool for engagement and learning. We are looking for a dedicated outdoor education teacher/mentor to join our team at KORU.
About the role:
As an outdoor education teacher/mentor, you will play a key role in delivering high quality outdoor learning experiences that promote resilience, teamwork and personal development. Working with students who have faced barriers in mainstream education, you will use outdoor activities to inspire confidence, improve well-being, and encourage engagement in learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver outdoor education sessions
- Work closely with students to develop there confidence, teamwork, and problem solving skills
- Adapt sessions to meet the needs of individual learners, ensuring inclusivity and engagement
- Maintain high levels of safety and risk management in all activities
- Support students with additional needs, helping them build positive relationships
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams to integrate outdoor learning into the wider curriculum
- Refer any safeguarding issues
- To mentor students, supporting successful achievement of targets and contribute to meetings/reports
What we are looking for:
- A passion for outdoor education and working with young people
- Experience in delivering outdoor learning or adventure based activities
- Relevant qualifications
- An understanding of the challenges our students face
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
