To keep yourself safe we advise the following:

  1. Be aware of your surroundings when out and avoid using your mobile phone in public or having any valuables on display.
  2. Smart phones in particular are attractive to thieves – a more basic mobile phone will enable you to stay in touch but less of a target. Register your mobile (and other valuables) at www.immobilise.com
  3. Earphones can make you more vulnerable as you are less aware of your surroundings . Thieves might use bikes/mopeds/ e-scooters to snatch valuables.
  4. Consider turning on GPS or ‘track my phone’ option on your phone when out and about, this can also be helpful to officers when attempting to locate stolen phones.
  5. Having conversations and plan the safest route to/from school and avoid any shortcuts or isolated places.
  6. DON’T CONFRONT A THIEF- it’s not worth risking your own safety. Mobile phones and other personal possessions can be places- you cannot be.
